A Modern Spin on Traditional Log Cabin Block
This new collection called, Let bloom, is just what we need to start off the spring season. This sweet floral collection in green, pink and purple by Little Forest Atelier will make your heart sing.
What is a log cabin quilt block?
It is a traditional quilt block that mimics the appearance of log cabin structures, typically consists of a center square, representing the hearth, surrounded by strips of fabric, symbolizing log.
The light and dark fabrics are often alternated to create a visually striking design. It’s been popular for generations due to its versatility and simplicity, making it a favorite among quilters of all skill levels.
One tip for successful log cabin block is to make sure that you have consistent 1/4″ seam allowance
Cabin Blossom Quilt is my newest quilt pattern that I designed when I saw this collection. It’s pretty magical as you build up each element and see it ‘Blossom’ as you put all the elements into a quilt. The quilt is made of log cabin blocks using prints and coordinate solids from Confetti Cotton Solids.
The design with big blocks made this Cabin Blossom Quilt ideal for all skill levels, and super quick to put together. This version shown here uses 12 half yards, but the pattern also comes with fat quarter version if you prefer more scrappy look, like my Rainbow inspired Cabin Blossom Quilt.
I picked the quilting design called, Crystal Ball by Karlee Porter. The textures and the movement from the quilting design made this quilt perfectly snugly.
I hope you enjoy this quilt as much as I do. I love to see your projects! Tag me @ThaiCharmllc in your posts when you create with my patterns using hashtags, #ThaiCharmPatterns .
